Another merit of this concept of marketing is that it focuses more on marketing and selling and there is a saying that what people see is what sells and unless company’s products are not visible consumers will not buy company’s product. Hence in the above example if kids do not know the taste of fruits and vegetables they will continue to like as well as eat pizzas and burgers forever same is the case in marketing where a customer will keep buying already established products unless they are not given other options.

The main motive of the company using this concept is to sell whatever company produces without thinking about consumer needs which in turn ensures that company does not have unsold stock of goods and when the company does not have unsold stock it results in freeing of working capital which can be used by the company for other productive purposes.

Customer needs are ignored

The biggest disadvantage of this concept of marketing is that it ignores the customer needs because the company following this concept sells whatever product company has produced rather than giving a customer that product which customer wants. Hence for example, if the customer wants a good quality camera mobile but company tries to sell to that customer mobile having many features but the camera of that mobile is of inferior quality than as far a customer is concerned he or she will be disappointed after purchasing the mobile from the company.

Ignores Consumers Feedback

Under this concept of marketing company does not take into account the feedback of consumers which is very important because the task of the company does not end with selling products to the consumers rather it is a continuous process as one unsatisfied consumer will give negative mouth publicity to 10 other consumers which in turn is not good for reputation or goodwill of the company.

Short Term Approach

The idea behind selling concept of marketing is to sell whatever company produces which in turn results in short term gains for the company but as far as long term is concerned company will find it difficult to survive as customers can be fooled one or two time but in the long term customer will purchase that product which gives them maximum value for their money.
